Web Developer/Information Technology Specialist
USDA-Ames, Iowa

The USDA-Agricultural Research Service, Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research Unit, Ames, Iowa (ISU campus) is recruiting a permanent Web Developer for the MaizeGDB project (see http://www.maizegdb.org).

The successful applicant will be have:
1) knowledge of biological data management concepts and methods as well as server-side scripting languages such as PHP and AJAX sufficient to assist users in data retrieval;
2) knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating systems, Apache configuration and maintenance, XML, and programming with Oracle and/or MySQL database management system; and
3) ability to write technical documents and operational procedures.

U.S. citizenship. Salary commensurate with experience ($51,734-$67,259).

Note also that although the salary listed here is at the GS-9 level, the full promotion potential is a GS-11 and that the series is 2210, which pays better than the regular GS.
