PostDoctoral Geneticist/Bioinformatician

BACKGROUND: The Sorghum Translational Genomics Program at KSU seeks a postdoctoral geneticist/bioinformatician for analysis of large amounts of sequence data from a diverse panel of sorghum lines. Details of the project may be found at http://coding.plantpath.ksu.edu/stgp/.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Given a large SNP dataset derived from resequencing several sorghum accessions, you will lead comparative genomic studies and assist in preparing publications describing sorghum genomic diversity and its biological significance. You will carry out further bioinformatics analyses including association studies, following dense genotyping of a larger set of sorghums.

REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in a relevant biological or analytical science. Strong quantitative and statistical skills, genetics and bioinformatics training (sequence manipulation, microarrays, genomics, DNA markers), good oral and written English communication skills.

PREFERENCES: Training in population genetics. Experience in one or more programming languages including Perl and R is highly favored.

TERMS: Position will extend up to three years. Available June 15, 2008.
