Location:
The Wheat Genetic and Genomic Resources Center (WGGRC), Department of Plant Pathology, 4024 Throckmorton Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506.
Job Responsibilities: Development of improved wheat germ plasm using the tools of molecular biology, cytogenetics, and marker-assisted breeding. Wide hybridization and alien introgression. Molecular cytogenetic mapping and cloning of useful genes especially for stem rust resistance. Wheat genome/chromosome analysis. Create an environment that fosters diversity, collegiality, and ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in plant sciences/genetics/agronomy with a background in cytogenetics, molecular biology, or a related field,
- demonstrate quality of work and be able to design and conduct independent experiments with strong commitment to achieve goals, and
- excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work in team based collaborative environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in wheat/plant cytogenetics, molecular genetics, FISH, tissue culture, and wide hybridization.
- Bioinformatics skills.
Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity.
