The Wheat Genetic and Genomic Resources Center (WGGRC), Department of Plant Pathology, 4024 Throckmorton Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506.

Job Responsibilities:
Development of improved wheat germ plasm using the tools of molecular biology, cytogenetics, and marker-assisted breeding. Wide hybridization and alien introgression. Molecular cytogenetic mapping and cloning of useful genes especially for stem rust resistance. Wheat genome/chromosome analysis. Create an environment that fosters diversity, collegiality, and ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.

Required qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. degree in plant sciences/genetics/agronomy with a background in cytogenetics, molecular biology, or a related field,
  2. demonstrate quality of work and be able to design and conduct independent experiments with strong commitment to achieve goals, and
  3. excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work in team based collaborative environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Experience in wheat/plant cytogenetics, molecular genetics, FISH, tissue culture, and wide hybridization.
  2. Bioinformatics skills.
