Postdoctoral/Research Associate Positions

The Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University has immediate openings for two full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Postdoctoral/Research Associates.

POSITION #1:
Wheat Genomics - The person in this position will work with a multi-institutional team of researchers to use radiation hybrid (RH) mapping, high throughput genotyping platforms, and bioinformatics tools to generate high-resolution marker scaffolds (maps) of wheat chromosomes.

Responsibilities will include: 1) developing radiation hybrid (RH) mapping populations for D-genome chromosomes of Chinese Spring wheat; 2) performing high throughput genotyping assays and develop RH maps of varying resolution; 3) analysis and reporting of research findings at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed publications; 4) overseeing and training other personnel working on this project; and 5) assisting in the preparation of research grant proposals.

Qualifications: 1) PhD in plant molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or closely related field; 2) demonstrated research abilities in molecular genetics; 3) track record of peer-reviewed publications; 4) excellent written and oral English communication skills; and 5) demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Applied Wheat Genomics - The person in this position will work with a group of researchers on the enhancement of wheat germplasm by marker-assisted selection, transformation, and/or chromosome engineering and the evaluation of germplasm for traits of agronomic interest.

Responsibilities will include: 1) wheat germplasm development using marker-assisted selection, transformation and/or chromosome engineering; 2) germplasm evaluation from marker-assisted selection, transformation, and/or chromosome engineering for traits of agronomic interest; 3) analysis and reporting of research findings at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed publications; 4) overseeing and training other personnel working on this project; and 5) assist in the preparation of research grant proposals.

Qualifications: 1) PhD in plant molecular genetics, plant breeding or closely related field; 2) demonstrated research abilities in plant molecular genetics and breeding; 3) track record of peer-reviewed publications; 4) excellent written and oral English communication skills; and 5) demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
